Why Choose Die Cast Zinc Alloy Badges?

Zinc alloy die cast badges offer the perfect balance between durability, design flexibility, and cost-efficiency.

Thanks to the die casting process, zinc alloy can be molded into a variety of shapes and patterns through die casting process. It can achieve highly detailed 2D or 3D designs or cut-outs, that are difficult to replicate with other materials.

Compared to brass or copper, zinc alloy is lighter and more affordable, while still offering high strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent machinability. This makes it ideal for creating custom badges with intricate patterns, dynamic shapes, or multi-dimensional effects. The die struck badges are ideal for creating 2D or simple 3D designs.

Besides, die casting is cost-effective for large orders.

For custom medals, double-sided challenge coins, or pins with greater thickness, zinc alloy die-casting is typically required to achieve optimal results.

Our Custom Die Cast Zinc Alloy Badge Process

Step 1: Design & Mold Creation

Once we receive your approval on the digital proof, we’ll begin production. The first step is to create the mold by a CNC machine, based on your design. Typically made of steel, the mold serves as the negative of your badge design.

Step 2: Injection Molding

Using a die-cast machine, the zinc alloy is melted and injected into the mold under high pressure, taking the shape of your badge design.

Step 3: Cooling

The die cast machine is equipped with a cooling system that regulates temperature and speeds up the cooling process.

Once the molten zinc alloy is injected into the mold, the outer layers cool first, forming a solid shell while the inner layers continue to cool. This gradual solidification reduces internal stress and improves the overall quality of the die-cast pins.

Step 4: Ejection

Once the molten metal has fully solidified, the die cast machine activates the ejector badges. This precise movement ensures the badges are released from the mold without damaging their structure.

Step 5: Trimming and Finishing

Excess material and imperfections are removed through trimming, polishing for a smooth final badge.

Step 6: Plating

Apply electroplating as requested to enhance the pin’s appearance. Common finishes include gold, silver, nickel, black nickel, matte, or antique.

Step 7: Coloring (Optional)

Die cast zinc alloy badges can be customized with soft enamel, hard enamel, or UV printing, depending on the design requirements. This step is just optional.

Step 8: Quality Control & Packaging

Every badge undergoes strict quality checks before being packaged according to your preferences.
